Gemini — built into Google, familiar interface

Pick whichever one you like. They all work for this exercise. If you’ve never used any of them, start with ChatGPT — it works without creating an account.

Step 2: Copy and paste this prompt

Copy the prompt below exactly as written, then replace the [BRACKETED] sections with your real details:

I run a [TYPE OF BUSINESS, e.g. plumbing company / accounting practice / café / online shop] in [YOUR AREA, e.g. south London / Manchester / rural Devon]. Write me a short, professional email I can send to past customers letting them know about [SOMETHING NEW, e.g. a new service we’re offering / our updated opening hours / a seasonal promotion]. Keep it under 100 words, friendly and warm. Use British English.
💡 Why this prompt works It tells AI three things: who you are, what you need, and how you want it. That’s the secret to good prompts — specificity. The more detail you give, the better the output.

Step 3: Read the result

AI will generate a complete email in about 5 seconds. It won’t be perfect — it never is on the first try. But it’ll be surprisingly close to something you could actually send.

Refine the output by replying with instructions like: “Make it shorter”
“Make the tone more casual”
“Add a line about booking online”
“Remove the bit about the discount”
